BIOGRAPHY

Bryan Zlimen brings a proactive and client-focused approach to every matter. As a founding member of Canopy Business Law, PLLC, he has enjoyed creating a practice that focuses on clients’ needs, rather than billable hours. Clients praise him as a knowledgeable attorney and a practical, trusted advisor. Bryan is a current and former small business owner and is familiar with the issues small business owners face. Individual clients benefit from his guidance and expertise in administering estates, drafting estate plans, or working on other personal matters. Bryan is committed to client satisfaction and effective representation.

Bryan is a co-author of the Minnesota Practice Series Collections Handbook and has written articles for various publications on collections, business practices, probate administration, and various other topics.  He is a national and local presenter on collections and other topics, presenting for industry groups, clients, bar associations, and more.

Education

Bryan graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a degree in Communication Arts in 2002. He received his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in 2007. While in law school he earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award and the Minnesota Justice Foundation Volunteer Service Award.

Prior Experience

Prior to becoming an attorney, Bryan was a small business owner and spent 9 years working in the residential construction and landscaping fields. His experience in these areas gives him unique insight into the needs of small businesses.

Interests

In addition to practicing law, Bryan is actively involved with several charities and community organizations.  His primary hobby is whitewater kayaking. Bryan has paddled whitewater rivers throughout the United States and abroad. For 14 years, Bryan was an A.C.A. Level IV certified whitewater kayak instructor, who taught as a volunteer with local organizations. Although he no longer teaches, he continues to volunteer in other roles.
